FIDE(Fédération Internationale des Échecs or World Chess Federation) is the  game's international governing body since 1948.FIDE was founded in Paris, France, on July 20, 1924. Its motto is Gens una sumus, Latin for "We are one people". As of 2015 FIDE's president is Kirsan Ilyumzhinov. It is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the supreme body responsible for the organization of chess and its championships at global and continental levels. Since 1980 FIDE is a member of UNESCO. FIDE oversees few other tournaments, although other top-level events, almost without exception, respect FIDE rules and regulations. Visit official website.

It defines the rules of chess, both for playing individual games (i.e. the board and moves) and for the conduct of international competitions. The international competition rules are the basis for local competitions, although local bodies are allowed to modify these rules to a certain extent. FIDE awards a number of organizational titles, including International Arbiter, which signifies that the recipient is competent and trusted to oversee top-class competitions.

The person who invented chess is not known. Chess is one of the oldest games in the world and it is assumed that the Origin of Chess is India and then spread over to the Arabian countries.


Chess is intellectually very demanding and the most complex and most fascinating game for those who know it and love it.
There is an interesting story about the man, who invented chess coming from Persia and this story is around 800 years old.
